If you’re getting a new boiler, there are a few questions you should ask yourself before! A boiler is a big investment, so it's important you make the right choice. You probably haven't been shopping for a new boiler in the last decade, and lots have changed! Keep reading to find out our tips about choosing the right boiler.
Which boiler manufacturer is right for you?
The boiler market is always getting busier, with lots of brands now available to you. Some of these brands are very recognised, such as Baxi and Ideal. Big-name manufacturers may charge slightly higher prices, but they haven’t got such good reputations for nothing! Every manufacturer offers different benefits, so you need to choose what boiler qualities are most important to you. Cheap prices? High quality? Great customer service? It’s up to you to decide.
Which type of boiler do you need?
There are three main types of boilers available to you. If you require a lot of hot water, system and conventional boilers are your best options. They both operate with water storage cylinders and tanks, so need loft space. If you have a smaller home, a combi boiler is a better choice, as they only require a boiler unit. They run off mains water and heat water instantly.
Where will your boiler go?
Your new boiler could be wall-mounted and placed in a kitchen cupboard, which is becoming more common with new boilers as they are now much smaller. This isn’t always suitable, so consider other places such as airing cupboards or laundry rooms.
Who can install your new boiler?
The only people qualified to carry out any gas work in your home are gas safe engineers. Here at Knight Plumbing & Heating, we have a whole team of qualified engineers who will be more than happy to help. We are proudly on the gas safe register, so don’t hesitate to get in touch!
